Penstemons are some of my favorite flowers. With their beautiful showy blooms, they are formal garden-worthy (as so many native plants are). They are host plants, attract hummingbirds, and perhaps the most charming part of it all is watching the bees, ever so slightly too large to fit in the flowers, shove themselves inside the blooms.
