Climbing aster is one of the last flowers blooming in the fall sometimes blooming until December. Its blooms can range in color but are generally a pale purplish pink, and it can climb to heights of 10 feet.

Climbing aster grows in full sun and well-drained soils, preferring some moisture. It needs help getting started to climb and may need to be tied off to its support. It can also be allowed to sprawl on the ground or cascade over a wall.

Climbing aster is deer, drought, and rabbit-tolerant and is a  host plant to Pearl Cresent caterpillars. Seeds are eaten by birds.
