This plant is a charmer. Rising atop 3-4 foot stems intensely purplish blue blooms open from the bottom up in summer with a nice long bloom time well into fall. Hummingbirds are attracted to Blue Lobelia. Blue Lobelia can tolerate drier sites than its cousin the Cardinal Flower. Plant them both for a long lasting hummingbird feast!
Attracts hummingbirds and bees. My deer enjoy eating them but they do survive and sometimes seem to enjoy the pruning by sprouting multiple stems.
