This pink flowered, graceful beauty is well known for being a host to the Monarch butterfly. Swamp Milkweed soars to 5 feet tall with an eventual spread of 2-3' wide. Its seed pods are of ornamental interest.
It prefers wet soils, stream banks or pondside, but is adaptable to moist clay and is deer resistant.
Why 3? Plant Milkweeds in groups. Monarch caterpillars need a large amount of food situated closely together to survive. Wherever you plant milkweed, please plant it in groupings and spread the word!
